Mary Wright, AICP to retire after serving as Vice President for 8 years

Mary Wright, the firm’s Vice President for the past eight years, has announced her plans for retirement. She plans to begin the next phase of her life on October 13, 2023, her last day at Civic Solutions.

Mary’s career in city planning includes 27 years with the City of San Diego Planning Department, serving for five years as its Deputy Planning Director. She joined Civic Solutions in 2013 as a principal and Director of Planning Services. She has also held the position of Vice President since 2015, and has been instrumental in successfully growing the firm’s Community Planning division. Her many accomplishments include certification of numerous housing element updates, two environmental justice elements and serving as the General Plan Program Manager for the City of Jurupa Valley’s first General Plan. She has encouraged and fostered the professional development of our management team and staff, and her work for our public agency clients has earned her the respect and admiration of elected and appointed officials and professional colleagues.
Mary’s positive outlook, genuine care for others and amazing competence will be missed. It has been especially rewarding to have her collaboration and support for the past ten years. Recently graduating from the Berklee College of Music, Mary will now be focusing on her interest and expertise in music composition and offering her works commercially.

Please join me in wishing Mary Wright best wishes for a well-deserved retirement as she pursues her new career in music and also playing golf with friends, family and her husband, Gar.
